Open Ukraine Stories
Open Ukraine Stories connects Ukrainian literature and culture with contemporary European dialogue. The initiative highlights Ukrainian voices, identity, and cultural diversity beyond the context of war. Special attention is given to children’s literature and meaningful cross-cultural storytelling.

About the Project
Open Ukraine Stories supports literary and cultural projects that connect Ukraine, its people, and its histories with contemporary European realities. We are committed to broadening the perception of Ukraine beyond the framework of war by highlighting the richness of Ukrainian cultural, literary, and intellectual life and by creating space for contemporary Ukrainian voices within the European cultural landscape.
A particular focus lies on children’s literature, which can make questions of identity, belonging, language, memory, and cultural diversity accessible to young readers and families across generations and borders.
Within this field, we support authors such as Dora Oskrovsky, whose work brings Ukrainian experiences into meaningful dialogue with wider European contexts. Through literature, storytelling, and public engagement, Open Ukraine Stories contributes to a more nuanced, diverse, and forward-looking understanding of Europe.
